February 2014

Just accepted yet another task on top of everything and I'm unable to back out of anything else. This will be a tight quarter.

(Anachronistic, from 2 days hence) I'll be honest, my color schemes aren't color-blind accessible at all. I know that I'm pointedly choosing them in the same family with just enough contrast that they look good to me, on this browser, on this screen, in this lighting.

I like to give to some kickstarter campaigns that will soon fail. In a sense, it snatches them up for posterity. In another sense, it gives me a harmless way to defuse my impulse for retail therapy.

Finally glued an alligator clip to the bottom of my monitor. Now I can hang the new key layout for the ergodox closer to the center of my vision.
Updated index page of this site. Updated my csu page, those changes back-propagated to the project page here.
It looks like I fouled the MX records for my new email by not noticing the period at the end. This was treated as mx.mailbanana.org.nzen.ws instead of mx.mailbanana.org I'll test in an hour if that worked. It did.

Saw RIPD (which I keep calling RPID) tonight. It is a smashy-smashy MIB retread. Its source material may have predated MIB, though. I'll table purchasing the comic for some months, so I have time to forget it a little.

Yay, lent a Nexus to test the android app I'm working on. It's worth noting that I would probably benefit from knowing the likely OS level distribution of the client's phones. Differences like Fragments can be faked in older versions, but at the cost of kludging native fragments for those that could have.

Looking at the index headers in chromatic order is much more pleasing than the arbitrary order it would be otherwise. So, I think I'll change all the colors now.

Finally looked at the autorenewal rate for .ws with luckyregister. Trying to switch to 1and1 but they're cocking it up. I have one month to transfer it somewhere before it expires.

Eventually, I realized that Ergodox keys seem to be just a shade smaller than these Kinesis keys. So my muscle memory is reaching in the wrong place in addition to the nubless F & J keys.

Some time ago, I read advice to wait some time after a meal before brushing. However, I'm more apt to forget to brush at all with this regimen. So, I've had more gingivitis. I'll probably get worse news than normal with the next dentist visit. Also, don't rinse after brushing for a while.

Hmm. Finally looked at making a second tumblr blog for liking/reblogging stuff, so idle kindle (my tumblr of kindle screensavers in the wild) remains consistent. Unfortunately, only the primary one can do that. Options: make second tumblr with this one, reblog everything and rename the primary; make another tumblr account just for liking posts and stuff; make second tumblr that only reblogs other's posts and not like any posts (to keep idle_K sane). I'll probably do the last one, with an experiment to see what liking a post does to idle_k.

Typed help into windows console. After sighing at descriptions that still mention floppies, I noticed the color command. Mind, I've noticed techniques for printing individual lines in color. The color command, though, changes the default. It's cool to play with. // Oh, it just changes it for a single session :-/

A long running process makes for a day estranged from my computer.

I'm going to buy a backup watch soon. Saw that fitbits display the time. Read some stuff, this article comparing four trackers was most useful. My future self might appreciate the data, but a fitbit one (my choice) isn't enough a watch to meet my needs. Perhaps, during the next purchase season.

Watched the rest of Tin Man, it had a satisfying conclusion, albiet just as overwrought as the previous two episodes. Then watched the season finale of Downton Abbey.

Oh man, just shown that I printed something that I didn't intend to. Which reminds me that notepad++ is wretched to print from, because it prints the background color (and I use a dark color scheme). I shake my fist at it.

Pleased with the amount of work I accomplished, when I just sat to crank it out. If only all days were like this, I'd be a kajbesplillionaire.

Yay, my first two blog post month for NietShell. I usually hope to do one a week, but this has been a month with lots of obligations and negligence. And then I remembered that you can't even see it, because 1and1 asked me to point away from home as condition for the domain transfer. le sigh.
